Dr. Soma Dey

Prof. Soma Dey currently teaches economics and strategy at the Faculty of Management Studies (FMS), University of Delhi. Prof. Dey had completed her Ph.D. in economics from the University of Minnesota and had been teaching since 2000. She was a faculty at the Business School of the National University of Singapore before joining FMS in 2011. Prof. Dey’s broad area of research is applied microeconomics. She has worked in the area of industrial organization, specifically in the domain of R&D and patents with emphasis on the electronics and semiconductor industry. She has also worked on issues related to catastrophic health care expenditures observed in India. Her other areas of research interest include the role of MFIs in poverty alleviation in India and the role of recent Government regulations on e-waste management. She is currently working on issues related to market structure, innovation, and patenting in the Indian Pharmaceutical sector. Prof. Dey's teaching interests are in the areas of economics, strategy, and innovation.
